Francisco Liriano is no longer a Minnesota Twin. Six years after the “Liriano project” began in his rookie year, the Twins have decided to move on.
Surprisingly, the trade happened only three days before the trade deadline, sending Liriano to the Twins division rival: the Chicago White Sox.
The Twins gained two players for Liriano, middle infielder Eduardo Escobar and left handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez, who are both heading to Class AAA Rochester for the Twins.
Hernandez is 8-2 with a 2.94 ERA in 15 games combined this year between Class AA and Class AAA. He is an exciting young pitching prospect that the Twins hope can become the next Johan Santana.

To say the Minnesota Twins were a disappointment during the first half of the season would be an understatement. Their dismalĀ 36-49 record before the All-Star break was nothing to brag about. The Twins are currently 12 games back and in last place in the division.
However, the Twins still have some bright spots in their lineup and things to be looking forward to for the rest of the season.
